Using patent-pending technology, DECOYnet separates human activities from automatic channels communicating with the Internet, enabling it to focus on identifying and analysing these non-human channels. The exposed communication channels are partitioned according to their functionality class – i.e. updaters, common tools, shadow IT tools, SSL channels, malicious channels, etc. Information for each channel is provided. For example: usage, which assets are using it, the risk of using the channel, etc. The risk posed by each communication channel is evaluated using different attributes of the channel’s data stream and the analyst can drill down and see all the relevant activities of the suspected asset. A policy is used to define which communication channels are triggering incidents. Clear indications are given for communication channels that are used differently from their original purpose.
