organized and sanctioned, single or multi-day athletics (track & field) competition. (For example, Olympic Games, IAAF World Championships, IAAF Diamond League, EAA Premium Meeting, etc.)
Event: A single race or field event competition, within an Athletics Meeting (For example 100m, long jump, hammer throw, etc.)
Athlete: An individual participating in an Athletics Meeting.
CONTEST RULES
Contest results, rankings and winners will be determined based on the results and placings of athletes participating in actual Athletics Meetings in their respective events.
In each contest, participants create a roster by selecting nine athletes. Each athlete listed has an assigned price. A valid roster must not exceed the fixed budget for that contest (e.g., $30M). It is possible to buy an additional money for your roster, to bring the total available amount up to e.g., $33M. This can be done by purchasing the additional $3M for 2 Spikes. Purchasing the additional $3M will also cost you 6 points. You will therefore start the game with -6 points.
Contest rankings and results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each individual athlete (scoring rules summarized below).
Participation in each contest must be made only as specified in the Terms of Use. Failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in disqualification and, if applicable, prize forfeiture. For more see Terms.
ROSTER REQUIREMENTS
Rosters will consist of 9 athletes based on following criteria:
1 male and 1 female athlete in sprinting events. (Distances up to 400m)
1 male and 1 female athlete in middle and long distance events. (Distances 401m and longer)
1 male and 1 female athlete in jumping events. (Long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault)
1 male and 1 female athlete in throwing events. (Shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw, weight throw)
1 male OR female athlete as team captain in any event. Team captain has to be a different athlete than the other eight athletes fulfilling the criteria specified above.
SCORING RULES
An athlete will receive placement points according to the following schedule:
1st place = 10 points
2nd place = 8 points
3rd place = 6 points
4th place = 5 points
.....
8th place = 1 point
An athlete that is disqualified (DQ), does not start (DNS), does not finish (DNF) or is registered for a no mark (NM), he/she will receive zero placement points even if there are 8 or less athletes in the event.
Additionally, an athlete will receive the following personal performance points:
World Record (WR) = 12 points
Athletics Meeting Record (MR) = 8 points
Personal Best (PB) = 5 points
Season’s Best (SB) = 3 points
An athlete will be awarded only one single highest performance points allotment above. For example, if an athlete sets a new PB, he will be awarded 5 points, and forfeit the 3 points for a SB.
If an athlete sets multiple WR, MR, PB, SB in the same Athletics Meeting and event, he/she will be credited with only one performance points bonus.
An athlete will receive MR or WR points if he/she beats the previous MR/WR before the Athletics Meeting starts. E.g., If the WR in Long Jump for men is 8.95m and Athlete A jumps 9.05m and Athlete B jumps 8.97m then both athletes will receive points for WR.
An athlete will not receive points for SB, PB, MR or WR if the tail wind exceeds 2 m/s for events where wind is measured.
Total points for an athlete:
Total = place points + performance points.
An athlete will receive performance points for a result equal to the relevant record or PB/SB.
If a tail wind exceeds 2m/s (in events where wind is measured) the result will give the athlete placement points, but no performance points.
The team captain receives double points (both placement points and performance points are doubled).
Athletes who do not start or finish their event will receive 0 points. Athletes who are disqualified will receive 0 points.
CANCELLED EVENTS AND/OR COMPETITIONS
In the case where an event is canceled, the selected athlete will receive 0 points. It will not be possible to change the particular athlete.
If an Athletics Meeting is cancelled (e.g., because of bad weather) the Roster contest will be cancelled.
START LISTS, PERSONAL/SEASON'S BEST AND RESULTS
Start lists will be available shortly after their announcement by the Athletics Meeting. An athlete’s Personal Best and Season’s Best will solely be based on information from the competition organizer and/or IAAF’s Athletes profiles. All points will be based on PBs and SBs listed within the Roster application.
Results will be based on official results from the Athletics Meeting as of 11:59pm local time on competition day. Any subsequent changes in results (due to e.g., doping violations, protests etc.) will not affect the points.
ROSTER EDITS
Your roster may be edited at any time leading up to the Athletics Meeting. Each individual athlete will become “locked” five minutes before the official start of the Athletics Meeting. It is possible to change an athlete after the official start of the Athletics Meeting, but before the event in which the athlete will participate commences. However, this can only be done by purchasing Spikes (1 Spike per trade) and only before the scheduled start time of their event. A locked player cannot be added or removed from a roster spot.
PRIZES
At the conclusion of each competition, prizes will be awarded by 12:00 NOON EST on the following day, except in circumstances where technical failure, inability of the Company to verify the player’s compliance with the Terms of Use, or other reasons prevent such timely payout. Prizes won are added to the winning participants account balance. In the event of a tie, prizes are divided evenly amongst the participants that have tied.
