The website is constructed along two intertwinned subjects: paintings and pigments. The main subject of a page on each individual painting is the analysis of pigments used in its creation. Each page contains also other relevant information on the painting and a collection of written and online resources.

The pages on pigments describe the properties, preparation and identification of each pigment including important examples of paintings in which the pigment was used.

The information on paintings and pigments is interlinked throughout the entire site which enhances its value and usability.

The site is addressed to art enthusiasts, art and science educators and scientifically interested public.
