Our History

AGF began as a single, innovative idea: to pool the funds of Canadian investors to provide greater access to the U.S. market. The American Growth Fund, created in 1957, was the first mutual fund in Canada to invest solely in U.S. equities and its initials, AGF, became the company’s namesake.

Our founders, C. Warren Goldring and Allan Manford, set out to build a company that was innovative, focused on clients and driven by superior investment management. Their vision was realized in AGF, an independent investment management firm that is proudly Canadian with a global reach.

Over five decades later, the company, now led by Blake Goldring, Chairman and CEO, remains committed to our founders’ ideals.
