In 2016, the Brexit decision took many by surprise. As a United Kingdom national, co-founder of wherecani.live, Alison Johnson, was concerned about the impact Brexit would have on her and her family’s ability to continue to live in Spain.
During a conversation with a friend, Alison mentioned her Irish-born grandmother. Her friend exclaimed: “That makes you eligible for an Irish passport!”
With that simple exclamation, the idea for wherecani.live was born.
Alison Johnson and Ian Ryder co-founded wherecani.live in 2017. Before wherecani.live, there wasn’t a place to quickly access a list of countries based on official, current, and accurate information. The alternative was hour after hour of deep research.
Alison and Ian have spent thousands of hours analysing the immigration criteria of the world’s 190 plus countries to bring you information based on birth, descent, partner sponsorship, cross country agreements, retirement, annual income, investment migration and more.
