In late July 2012, he joined Automattic’s Team Custom, bringing new features to WordPress.com users who want to customize their blogs with more than just a great theme. In June 2014, he launched a new team at Automattic focused on growing WordPress’s market share to at least 51%.

Erick is a frequent presenter on topics of advanced WordPress development at conferences around the world. While at Automattic, he has helped develop training curriculum for WordPress developers. He also develop plugins for WordPress, which are released at no cost through the WordPress plugin repository.
